Own Your Image; Don't Borrow One

Since Stephanie is taking a personal day today, we decided to take the team approach and focus in on a trend that deserves some attention (and maybe a yellow flag or two).

While it's not the first attempt to introduce fashion lines into entertainment, the new "THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS" Restless Style online fashion and lifestyle magazine takes marketing to the next level. (Turn down the volume before you visit!)

While there is nothing wrong with television fashion lines, shoppers need to think first before making the buy. After all, not every woman can put on something from John Galliano's collection for Christian Dior and make it work.

(Y&R fans seem to agree. Only 6 percent said they liked the Dior look.)

And that's the point of today's post. What looks good on the Y&R stars might not look so good on you. Sure, taking in the image of celebrities is always fun and might even introduce you to a brad new look. Yet, finding the right image still begins and ends with you. You cannot borrow an image based on what looks great on someone else.

You can see what we mean easily enough. Take a look at the "Your Style" section of the new Restless Lifestyle site. Several women have uploaded their own fashion photos. The result? Well, it's quickly becoming packed with borrowed styles and bad choices. Seriously, very few (maybe one or two) are wearing outfits that make them look their best. Many are simply wearing styles that made someone else look great.

Until next week, please know that Stephanie and her entire team is wishing you peace, love, and joy in your life!
