What Do You Do When Your Clothes Don't Fit?

One of the most common questions my clients ask me is what should they do when their clothes don't fit anymore? It happens to everyone, right? You gain or lose a few pounds and, suddenly, nothing seems to fit.

I recently had this problem too. I recently lost a little over 10 pounds (not that I needed too; a food allergy had unexpectedly caused it). Right, I know. Poor me. But there is a reason I'm willing to share this story with you.

I did what all women who suffer from weight fluctuation do — I sulked.

You know, it's painful to look in the closet week after week, only to find that it's full of nice clothes that don't fit. So, I looked at my options.

My first thought was to shop for some temporary clothes. But was that what I really wanted to do? Go shopping and spend a bunch of money on clothes that won't fit when I regain what I consider my normal weight?

My second thought, was that I could have my old clothes altered so they fit my new frame, but it's really the same problem. I'd eventually have to have them altered again. "How many times could I afford to do that?" I wondered.

As a professional, you cannot wait too long to make a decision.

Can you imagine? While I was trying to make a decision, I was hurting my own image. How can I effectively advise other men and women about looking and feeling their best when I'm in the same boat? If I advise others to have their clothes altered while I'm walking around with pants that sag so bad in the bottom that my 8-year-old could jump in with me, then what message am I communicating to my clients?

Finally, it hit me. I was packing to attend a seminar when I realized just how saggy my ass really looked every time I put my pants on. THIS IS NOT O.K.!

The longer we wait, the less sure we feel about ourselves. The longer we wait, the more self-conscious we feel about our saggy bottoms. The longer we wait, the more money we may lose because we don't look or feel good about ourselves.

The first step brings us back the the same-old solution. If we invest even $500 on some new clothes and a few alterations, we're likely make ten times that amount back in a shorter amount of time. Gaining our self-confidence back rather than waiting to to be "normal" again is that powerful. Never underestimate positive thinking or The Law of Attraction . It starts with looking and feeling your best!

Duh. It was about time I listened to myself.

Look, we are all human. We all second guess ourselves. Don't wait for the perfect weight. You deserve to look and feel your best now. Right now. You are worth investment. In fact, chances are that the sooner you look and feel great, the sooner great things will start happening.

Wishing you peace, love, and joy in your life ... at any size!
