When I first heard about Bloggers Unite at BlogCatalog.com, which asks hundreds of bloggers to all blog about abuse today, I wasn't sure what to write about because I have an upbeat image blog. But then read this post at a blog called Emotional Abuse and Your Faith.
It features several photos of women and how they were dressed for domestic violence ads. Take a look at the photos if you have time. While there might not be anything wrong with the way these women are dressed, I don't think all women who are the victims of domestic abuse would dress this way. Do you?
Everything about the women in the advertisements say they regular middle class women. What would have been better is to dress them in different ways because abuse victims are not all middle class women. That's the very scary thing about abuse.
You can look at some women and you would never know that they are the victims of abuse. So, as someone who knows about fashion, that is what I would told the photographers. I would have recommended to have all women dress in different ways. One could have dressed more provocatively and another more upscale, perhaps a suite or evening gown. People looking at the ads would have been shocked to find out the women were victims, just like they are in real life.
If you are the victim of domestic abuse in Las Vegas, there is an organization called Safe Nest that can help you plan for your safety and the safety of any children. Please take a moment to check it out. The Law of Giving might apply here.
Wishing you peace, love and joy in your life.

Maybe Mary Kay Can Help You
Mary Kay? Yes, I am talking about Mary Kay, the multibillion-dollar global cosmetics company with more than 1.7 million Independent Beauty Consultants in more than 30 markets worldwide.
How can Mary Kay help you?
For years, Mary Kay women have been trying to convince me to try their products. I always politely refuse, thinking they were for "older women." (Meaning no offense, but that is what I really thought.) Not anymore!
I'm not sure how many women might relate to me, but I have really dry sensitive skin. I have been using Kiehls, which costs about $200 to $300 a month for a face wash, toner, scrub, and moisturizer. That's $200 to $300 a month, every month, for years!
I would still be using this system had it not been for the last conference I attended. I met a woman who was interested in my services so she invited me to her house. We talked about what I could do for her and she was impressed enough to offer me a free makeover. I agreed. (Never pass up on a free makeover!)
Then she pulled out the Mary Kay. And I thought, oh no, I don't really care for those products. Too late to stop her, I sat back and let it happen. I'm glad I did. I LOVED THESE PRODUCTS! Well, at least, I loved some of them: the Timewise cleansing products, the lip mask, and the Satin Hands. Seriously, my skin has never felt so soft or looked so bright.
And, it was a lot less money. The entire system only cost about $100 and lasts three months. Now that is a deal … maybe a steal! So why doesn't anyone talk about it? Are most women like me and think Mary Kay is just for "older women?" Do women just not know how great this stuff is?
So I asked my new Mary Kay rep that question. She told me the main reason more women do not know about Mary Kay is because Mary Kay does not have a celebrity endorsement (which is also why it costs so much less). She said Mary Kay products were always about the all-American woman.
Well, that makes sense. I guess. I think it's just because nobody talks about it. So I will. If you want softer skin for less, you really owe it to yourself to try these products because they might work for you, and for less! The stuff I mentioned is great!
Wishing you peace, love, and joy in your life! :)

Fall Fashions For Men With A Trump Twist
Men often tell me that fashion does not apply to them, because they are, well, men. The couldn't be more wrong!
I was watching "The Big Idea" with Donny Deutsh the other day. And it was a good day to watch. The men of all men, Donald Trump, was a guest on the show. I like Trump because he is always talking about success. He also takes dressing for success very seriously. He even posts about it at Trump University.
"If you want people to take you seriously in the work place you have to dress the part," he says.
It goes back to the time-honored thought: "fake it till you make it" or "if you look successful, you're going to be successful."
So after posting about fall fashion last week, a few men are asking "what does that mean for me." Oh, I'm so glad you asked!
Las Vegas is a bit different then most metropolitan cities. Suits are not the only way to dress for success. Of course, if you do want to add a little Trump suit magic, you can do it in true Trump style. Be bold with a dressy tie that says something. If you wear a nice suit with a stylish button down, then you also make a statement. But if you wear a plain suit with a boring shirt and tie in this town, then all you are saying is... "I'm trying my best, but I really don't know what I doing."
Sure, that's my opinion. I'm not even sure Trump would agree. But more importantly, if you are not into suits, there are other ways you can step up your fall fashion. The biggest must have this fall is a blazer. They are great for dress up or dress down. Dress it up with a shirt and tie or add a nice button down shirt and complimenting slacks. Dress it down with a cool T-shirt and jeans. In Vegas, it works. And, it will work even better with a new pair of suede shoes.
Need another tip? According to Mathew Edelstein, fashion editor for Details magazine, the cardigan is back. Now I know some of you think I must be nuts because your grandfather wore a cardigan back in the day, but please keep an open mind.
"The cardigan is more body-conscious this season," said Edelstein. Translated, for you guys who don't follow fashion, that means it won't droop, drag, sag, or make you look 20 pounds heavier. On the contrary, they are being made very stylish this year. Wear it over the right solid or stripe shirt, or pair it with nice slacks for business (or jeans for a casual look), and you will definitely make a great statement.
I'm picking a few things up for my husband this fall. I want him to dress for success and I already know what will do it: a blazer in grey and one in brown; a new cardigan; and some very stylish suede shoes. Happy Shopping! Or, if you live in Vegas, send me an e-mail and we can go shopping together.
Wishing you peace, love and joy in your life. Always! :)

Let's Talk Fall Fashions
We’ve been spending so much time talking about the inside, let’s break it up and talk about the outside. This is a great time to do it. Fall is right around the corner.
Yes, I know. Even for my friends in Las Vegas, fall still seems pretty far away. It's very difficult to think about shopping for fall when it is still 100 degrees outside. However, the time to start planning is now.
The trends are already starting to roll out and there is some big news for the fashionable budget-conscious shopper. Target and Kohl’s have some new lines by big name designers.
Sure, I might not seem like someone who shops at Target or Kohl’s, but the point is that you do not have to spend a lot of money to look your best. Yes, there are some people who think the more you spend, the better you look, but it’s simply not true.
The real secret is how you put it together and how you wear it. And the great thing about some of the new designs at Target and Kohl’s is that they carry the same big names without the big name price. So what’s the difference?
I’ll give you a few examples. Right now, Target is offering a new line from designer Alice Temperley. She has a modern colonial type design that has popularized by stars like Scarlett Johansson and Misha Barton.
The Kohl’s line is just as impressive. I am sure most of you have heard of Vera Wang. Most of her designs consist of dresses, but many of her designs include casual everyday wearing dresses, which is a great way to transition from summer to fall.
The dresses are mid-length, hitting just below the knee and usually feature short sleeves. What is really great is that you can wear them now as they are and then layer them with a long sleeve blouse, sweater, or overcoat when it cools down. The look is brilliant and the accessories are endless.
Between the two stores, Target is still one of my favorite places to shop. You can always find great stuff for a great price. You can dress it up for less, and nobody will know where you got it. Oh, except people who know me because I just gave away one of my best kept secrets.
It's okay. I think you're worth it. Wishing you peace, love and joy in your life! :)

The Law Of Dharma
Deepak Chopra's seventh Spiritual Law of Success is The Law Of Dharma. Yeah!
Why did I say Yeah? Well, I learned a lot about writing a series, including that I am not really fond of writing them. There were many times that I wanted to write about something else (as I will in the weeks ahead). But did I learn something else, which is even more important: The Purpose of Life, which is also The Law of Dharma.
According to this law, you have "a unique talent and a unique way of expressing it. There are somethings you do better than anyone else in the whole world."
When Deepak talks about this law, he says he taught his children to meditate. And in doing so, he taught them to find their purpose in life. He did not teach them to worry about making a living or making good grades. No, he told them to focus on serving humanity. Of course, his children always ended up with good grades. Many went to good schools. And now, many make a great living because they were focused on their purpose in life. They understand what it is that they are here to give.
For me, I know that helping people is one of the primary reasons that I started this company. You see, more than anything else, I want to empower people by improving their self-esteem and personal image. Your image, after all, is your personal brand. So how about you? Do you know what your purpose in life might be?
There are three main components that might help you find your way. But before you ask these questions, I want you to answer them with one basic thought in your mind: Time and money are no object.
1. What is your true self?
2. What unique talent do you have and enjoy?
3. How are you best suited to serve humanity?
Now, assuming money and time are no object, what will do? How are you best suited to serve humanity? What if you write down these answers and slowly, steadily put them into practice?
You can make it happen. And even if you succeed in the smallest of ways to start, I can promise you this ... you will find peace, love and joy in your life! :)
